Overnight at Gouter hut is mandatory to be booked in January. Otherwise Tete Rousse or Nid d’Aigle refuges shall be used (based on availability).
The ascent / descent route is exposed in places to rockfall above Tete Rousse hut. The release of rocks is unpredictable and the avoidance difficult. It is essential that fitness, your ability, and conditions allow you and your guide to move quickly through these hazardous zones. The guide’s appraisal of your competence and route conditions will determine whether the climb can be attempted, or an alternative objective proposed.

Les Houches - Refuge Tete Rousse
We will meet in Les Houches at the Bellevue cable car which we will take to the terminus station; from there we will continue by train to Nid d'Aigle and from there we will hike, about 2 hours, to Tete Rousse refuge where we will spend the night.
Refuge Tete Rousse - summit - Refuge du Gouter
We will depart as early as 2 AM. After an initial rock scramble we will travel across the glaciated Dome du Gouter and on the sharp Arete des Bosses to reach the summit of Mont Blanc. We will return the same way and we will spend the night at Gouter Refuge.
Refuge du Gouter - Les Houches
We will start early from Gouter Refuge so we can avoid as much as possible crossing the Grand Couloir while the rocks are falling. An easy and enjoyable hike back dow to Nid d'Aigle just in time for the train to Bellevue and the cable car back down to Les Houches and a cold beer.
